Chicano Theatre was birthed by Luis Valdez. Zoot Suit was one of the largest and earliest works that brought grand attention to the Chicano Theatre. Chicano Theatre was a part of the Chicano Movement where a lot of the same values of the Mexican American Civil Rights Movement were carried on. Zoot Suit was a great way of portraying the serious issues that were prevalent surrounding the prejudice towards Hispanics around this time. It brought forth awareness in a lighter sense so that it could be easily digested by the audience.
